At Dr Ziółko, you’ll find a wide selection of different types of CBD products. We’ve got everything you need! From dried herbs and concentrates, through to pastes and oils, right up to e-liquids. CBD products – what are they? What’s the best way to take them? What do you absolutely need to know?

CBD – what is it?

Many people wonder what CBD products are. We’re here to explain! CBD is a substance also known as cannabidiol. This organic chemical compound is extracted from the flower buds of the hemp plant. Alongside THC, CBD is the most common cannabinoid. It has a broad spectrum of effects and offers numerous health benefits.

Interestingly, CBD, along with other cannabinoids, is the plant-based equivalent of the endocannabinoids 2-AG and anandamide – compounds that occur naturally in the human body. CBD mimics their action by interacting with the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. It is precisely this interaction with the receptors that triggers a series of biological reactions in the body.

How does CBD work?

Unlike THC, CBD has no psychoactive properties and does not cause any kind of intoxication. Its effects are different. Cannabidiol interacts with the endocannabinoid system in the human body, hence its versatile properties. The following effects are particularly noteworthy:

  • pain-relieving
  • anti-inflammatory
  • antibacterial
  • antipsychotic
  • anti-allergic
  • anxiolytic
  • antioxidant
  • anticonvulsant

CBD for pain – the analgesic properties of cannabidiol

Cannabidiol is highly effective in the treatment and prevention of pain of various origins – migraines, rheumatoid inflammation, period pain, neuropathy, injuries and many others. This is possible because CBD increases levels of anandamide, an endocannabinoid responsible for the body’s natural pain tolerance. Cannabidiol can be used for pain relief both internally, for example in the form of oil, and externally, as an ointment for muscle or joint pain. CBD, together with medical cannabis, is also used in the treatment of chronic and post-operative pain.

CBD for sleep – how does it work?

It has long been known that CBD has a positive effect on sleep, but we will try to explain why this is the case. Cannabidiol does not induce sleep immediately, nor does it cause marked drowsiness, as sleeping pills do, for example. CBD has a holistic effect on sleep regulation. The substance increases levels of anandamide in the body (a natural endocannabinoid), which regulates various biological and chemical processes in the human body and has a positive effect on mental health and the regulation of slow-wave (deep) sleep.

Consequently, CBD enhances the REM sleep phase, during which the body experiences deep rest. This makes sleep more restorative for both body and mind, and waking up in the morning is much easier. Cannabidiol also reduces REM-phase disturbances, such as vocalisation, muscle spasms or rapid eye movements. CBD regulates the circadian rhythm and helps to calm the body in the evening, which makes it much easier to fall asleep and rest. Its anti-anxiety and pain-relieving effects are also significant, as in many cases it is anxiety, stress, restlessness or pain that hinder sleep. It is also worth mentioning that CBD lowers blood pressure, which in turn slows the breathing rate and activates the parasympathetic nervous system – a system that influences, amongst other things, the body’s recovery and relaxation, and this can lead to better sleep quality.

CBD has another advantage that sets it apart from traditional medicines: it does not cause troublesome side effects, such as drowsiness or difficulty concentrating.

Is CBD legal?

Hemp-based products containing CBD are entirely legal in Poland. There is no penalty for possessing or using them. However, they very often also contain trace amounts of THC. Polish law permits CBD products containing a maximum of 0.3% THC (any amount above 0.3% is prohibited).

In what form should CBD be taken?

There are many different ways to take CBD, so there’s something for everyone :) At Dr Ziółko, we offer a wide selection of oils, pastes, concentrates, as well as dried cannabis, hashish and CBD e-liquids.

CBD dried herb

Alongside CBD oils, dried CBD is the most popular way to take cannabidiol. The world of hemp strains is just as diverse as that of cannabis. You’ll find a wide variety of CBD dried herb strains, from the classic Amnesia through the aromatic Gelato, right up to the well-known and much-loved AK-47. You can also choose from different concentrations of cannabidiol; flowers typically contain between 5% and 20% CBD. Our products are completely safe, legal and do not cause any psychoactive effects. The most effective and healthiest way to consume flowers is through vaporisation, which offers a bioavailability of up to 60%. Find out more here!

CBD oils

CBD oil is the second most popular method, characterised by high bioavailability. When taken sublingually, the effects of cannabidiol can be felt after just 15 minutes. You’ll find various types of CBD oils, but between isolate and broad-spectrum oil, full-spectrum products are the best. As well as CBD, they also contain the maximum permitted concentration of 0.3% THC. This allows for a synergistic effect between the two compounds, resulting in even better results. Full-spectrum CBD oil is the closest in composition to that found naturally in the plant. You can find out more about the different types of CBD oils here!

At Dr Ziółko, you’ll find only carefully selected, tried-and-tested CBD oils with varying concentrations of cannabidiol: 5%, 10%, 15% and even 30%.

CBD concentrates

CBD concentrates are an excellent way to take high doses of cannabidiol. At Dr Ziółko, you’ll find hashish, crystals, wax, as well as moon rock and ice rock. Concentrates are ideal for vapourising (though not all models are suitable for this), for smoking mixed with your favourite herbs, or for use with a vape pen, a water pipe or a special bong designed for oils and concentrates. CBD e-liquids

E-cigarette enthusiasts are keen to try CBD e-liquids. It’s an excellent way to harness the potential of cannabidiol through a thick cloud of vapour. CBD e-liquids are usually classic e-liquids based on glycerine and/or propylene glycol, enriched with various doses of cannabidiol, and sometimes terpenes as well.

CBD vapes

Disposable CBD e-cigarettes are also hugely popular. These devices are ready to use straight away, require no charging and have a pre-set number of puffs. Once all the puffs have been used up, simply dispose of the disposable CBD e-cigarette.

How much does CBD cost?

It all depends on the type of product, the concentration of cannabidiol and the brand. At Dr Ziółko, you’ll find both dried herb, with prices starting from 30 zlotys, and isolates or oils costing as much as several hundred zlotys.
